The potential of terahertz pulsed imaging (TPI™) in medical markets is huge. Due in part to its ability to recognize spectral fingerprints, TPI™ provides good contrast between different types of soft tissue, and is a sensitive means of detecting the degree of water content as well as other markers of cancer and other diseases. This property has been uncovered by TeraView and used to image basal cell carcinoma (a common form of skin cancer) invisible to the naked eye. Because of the ubiquitous presence of such markers in tumors, the TPI™ can be applied to a number of different cancers, like breast, as well as other diseases in medicine, oral health care, and related areas.
Terahertz Pulse Imaging (TPI™) has the potential to make a major impact on medical imaging and other aspects of health care.
